Breeding Fish for Profit

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldnt go as far as flowerhorns...the market for flowerhorn is a niche, ..kinda like the arows, pcbass, and discus... .... Not saying that FH's arent nice, and that they wont make you money... just saying that its a harder market FH then your basic fishes that even newbies can ID....

...Hmmm, well, if you are TRULY serious then you will go Flowerhorns.

1. Expensive - ...meaning profit, but it is important to breed them yourself (if any losses occur, its OK, you bred them). Being Cichlids, they will act like the beasts they are. And I find that Flowerhorn lovers will pay for stunning fishes, including me.
2. Horny - ...luckily these fishes knows whats up, unfortunately they are also vicious killers
3. Hardy - ...they are tougher than the average bear, I mean EBJD
4. Market - ...these guys are international, and NO, you don't have to buy from the Motherland...Made in USA are masterpieces too.

No Problem....If I forget to answer questions sometimes, just PM me...

This may seem like I am changing plans rather quick but what about plecos? Do you think you can make profit off of some rare ones? I really like them especially the rare ones they eat very little and can be amazing looking and live in small tanks cause some max at 4 inch. If anyone has any idea on how to breed them let me know. I know they need caves but thats about it. Only videos i can find are on zebra plecos but too expensive right now. Any ideas?

Some plecos are easy to breed and some are very diffficult, if not impossible. Ancistrus cats are very easy to breed and easy to move (sell). A good fish for a beginner. Get a pair, feed them lots of vegetable matter (zucchini and canned green beans), provide the male with a long cave with a single entrance, and wait for fry.

Bristlenose Plecos are fine as well...and pretty hardy.. go with the calico longfins if you dont plan on shipping...I have had pet store pay me the same price for the calico longfin as they would for the Greens, Blue eyes and reds. So if youre breeding for local fish store... go with the one you can afford first because surely they will pay u the same amount for all the other varities....and move up from there with the species.....buy a trio minimum. Dont buy frys... frys will take you too long to even make anything happen... and if you do see any other pairs or trio for cheaper then the calico longfins, go for the other ones...
