Dont think convicts are really a fish that most people would buy they are easy to breed once you have a pair and are very prolific breeders. None of the lfs in my area stock them because most fishkeepers know this and therefore they have little or no resale value.
I have bred convicts, as well as all the popular livebearers (guppies platies mollies) as well as egg layers like danios and to be honest any fry I raised were taken by the lfs for credit or swopped for food, plants, fish etc.
Unless you go breeding on a large scale its not really going to make you money. :)

well maybe so but i think it may be a good idea for my first experience, i can also just use them as feeders for my rb piranhas.....

thats good but i would not breed them for money because fish store do not like them.

i will look into frontosa, are rbp (piranha) profitable? a post on here suggests that it's profitable to breed them..

it really all depends on how easy a fish is to get in your area. For example, if your fish store does not carry rbps then yes they would be profitable, but if the lfs carries them then you are competing with a store people already go to and know about.

it would be the pet shops i would be selling to, i would only be after about 50 quid now and then... not after much....

breed rare fish that no one can get easily. you make more selling fry on mfk then to a LFS. i would breed discus to sell to lFS, and breed large ciclids/flowerhorn for MFK

im looking into discus for future, cannot find much info on tank sizes yet tho.

think i want to try convicts first of all as my first experience as they seems the easiest.

piranhas (red belly) seem quite profitable but am still trying to find out how difficult these are....

what about bristle nose plec's?

If you had a bigger tank you could get breed Flowerhorn, they sell for alot.

Like people said, your not likely to make a profit off of breeding unless you breed something really rare or you breed on a larger scale. 1 tank won't get you much money.

If you just want to breed for fun, I say convicts.

don't be afraid of saltwater, a unstressed mated pair of clown fish breed frequently.
clownfish sell for what 20-30 dollars. they lay hundreds of eggs, if just 20 babies live you can sell them for 10 dollars a piece, for a gain of 200 dollars.
If you get the rare clowns like snowflakes or wide bars the babies will sell for considerably more.

clowns spawn monthly or bimonthly I believe.

the only catch is you will need to seperated the eggs from the parents, until the babies grow a bit.
