don't be afraid of saltwater, a unstressed mated pair of clown fish breed frequently.
clownfish sell for what 20-30 dollars. they lay hundreds of eggs, if just 20 babies live you can sell them for 10 dollars a piece, for a gain of 200 dollars.
If you get the rare clowns like snowflakes or wide bars the babies will sell for considerably more.

clowns spawn monthly or bimonthly I believe.

the only catch is you will need to seperated the eggs from the parents, until the babies grow a bit.

i must admit, i AM afraid of saltwater :(

"piranhas (red belly) seem quite profitable but am still trying to find out how difficult these are...."

Piranhas are fairly easy to breed however if you start with young piranhas and let them grow to breeding size you will be waiting for about 1-2 years. That is what I am currently doing. My piranhas are approximately 3-4 inches and they are generally ready to breed at about 6-7 inches.

how many babies would you expect to have to sell from each spawning?

personally the first fish to ever breed for me are my green terrors i bough them a month ago and in that time they've laid eggs twice first time none made it because the convicts ate them..... this time they are alone in a tank soo hopefully all goes well :) first pic is the first batch with the female, second pic is the close up, third is of the male, and last picture is the batch from last night :P

this seems like a good idea but get something cheap that lives in saltwater first to get practice with marine species, u dont wana buy a pair of clowns and have them die and blow 40 bucks. dont sell to pet stores. theyll give u retail prices, the best is to sell fish in wholesale on the internet or something. i never tried it yet but did some research and im planning on breeding cons and some sort of shrimp. cons will be great feeders, expecialy for ur rbp. u can sell some to friends or a lfs to be resold as feederes, but theres little money to be made. illd say go for shrimp, cherry reds or bumblebee shrimp something like that ive heard they breed like mad and look realy nice, are realy easy to breed apperantly, and ive looked on some sites and they take 12 retail for one! so u can esaily get 9 bucks each if u sell them wholesale on the internet.
