breeding guppies

Actually if the aim is to produce as many fry as possible 1 male per 8-12 females works best.the males are so "busy" they can stress out the females, and they produce less.

hey what if u have the same number of males to females? coz i have 6males and 6females...
i just wanted them to have an even pairs :) how would that be compared to 1 male with a lot of females?

hmmm... that would produce a wide strand of offspring comparing to just one male and multiple females. if you want to concentrate the strain, just have one male.

i breed mine in those large styrofoam boxes used to transport frozen fish and seafood, a lot cheaper than having a fish tank heheh. the downside is you won't see the side view of your fish, but then again, just for breeding. i also place plants for the reason that a lot of the guys have said here, the fry can use them as hiding places, so i'm producing plants and guppies at the same time.

I have the same amount of males and females as well.4 of the females have really big bellies but no babies yet and its been like a week,I dont know what they are waiting for.The water is also kinda cloudy, would that be from the undergravel filter? And while im trying to breed them should i turn the undergravel of and just use the airstone or what do i do??

Hey HiGhTiMeZ
Nice setup.
What and how are you feeding the fry?

There's fry food at your LFS. I have the TetraMin brand.

You can also feed them frozen/ilve bbs, baby daphnia, but IMO the easiest are microworms.

Culturing them is extremely easy!
