Breeding L200s?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
a plec for a 100 bucks... what would you get. better to go for something a bit more rare or exotic than a plec thats bigger. anyone can grow a plec lol

Sorry on the deaths and congrats on the L200 breeding attempt. Just looking at some of your pics of the L200's, what causes the little nicks out of the dorsal? I have a new L200 of about 3.5" that shows some of that. It's a big tank with a lot of filtration and water movement. Sounds like prices are cheaper in your neck of the woods than Houston--$34 for the L200. From a real pro at a LFS, he claims GN's are hard as heck to keep alive down here. Thoughts?

The nicks were from the tank they were originally in. it is caused by fighting for territory. The place I bought them at had them in a tank full of crayfish, and only one hiding spot, and there were 7 total in the tank. My only thought is that your water quality is a little off for them.

depends what your tank water is there. people keep saying recently that they are hard to keep, and if you've got water quality somewhere near to what they have in the wild. i have heard that they are reasonably prone to parasites and sunken belly, but if they are healthy i dont think its a problem. The ripped fins will go brack. its just a beaten up fish

Got some photos of the L200s, they are now very comfortable in their home, but soon they should be getting moved.

In the second picture there are three, they are hard to see though. All but the one in the first picture still tend to hang out on the back wall.
