breeding pair of reds?

hey mike1987, do you know what would be agood sized tank for 2 adult red wolves to live in for life? I always wanted more than one wolf fish a single tank but many people say it won't work out. since you have 2 reds in a tank, what's ur answer for this?

get em small. mine are 4.5 inches. i would say 50-75 would work, i have mine in a 35g for now. and they seem very happy in that tank, low light is key with hiding spots. i have fake plants on the top of mine and 2 places with good spots

2 wolves will not work out. Just because his are working no doesnt mean it will long term. His are small and most wolves stay together when small. As far as the guy breeding malas in a 10 gallon (I call BS on that). The local fish store here had 3 baby malas in the same tank and they were fine for about 4 weeks till 1 killed the other 2. The same lfs has 4 reds and they were till 1 was killed then they all got their own tanks. May work for a little while but wont work for life unless you have a tank so big that they dont run into each other often and a 55-90 wont work and 100-180 probly wouldnt either. These fish require alot of room and in the wild they dont like each other in claimed territories. Good luck breeding but I've never heard of anyone actually doing it and if its your first shot with wolves then you will probly lose one trying

well come to toledo , ohio, go into daves and he will tell you the story. he got 2 malas in, first pair, he had no room so, for the night he put them in a small 10gal display tank, that night they had egg's etc etc. after the first batch they where moved to a 90 gallion tank and have been breeding ever since. curretly in 1 75 tank there is 8 7 inch mala's yes uncommon and they mostly kill each other. but for now his are working.

mine. are 5inch more then half there adult size, they sleep together move together. everything. and in a 35gal right now. reds are slow to grow. 2 red can be had in a 90gal. if each side of the tank is claimed theres.

but i must be a liar, becuase that must be the cool thing to do , over the internet because even though i dont know you, or will it affect my life in anyway . im going to lie about it. you caught me, the internet liar. warm the chief

Just trying to say its sounds funny to have malas breed in a 10 gallon. But as far as ur reds go im just saying its very unlikely they will stay on the same path for life. Wolves are very wierd that way because one day they just decide to kill

well both red died last night for unknown reasons. one as having heath problems treated for it, but it died last night, other wolf died as well. don't know why. there are white mollies in the tank and 2 comets in the tank which havent been eaten. no bites marks or anything

so all hype ends. and i really dont know if i want to spend about 100 bucks on fish again to have die on me. my tank is in prefect condition water is all on point with levels.

and i doubt i will get a deal or a discount on another fish from where i got em.

where did you get them. I payed $40 for my red. Red wolves arent as easy to car for. did you notice any health problems when you bought them?

had a mark on the head, but didn't think any of it, it looked to be healed or maybe a healed heater burn. but the female had nothing and had nothing when she died she looked great. swimming around just fine. the male head the weird think in his head, but it seemed to be healed and was normal color and seemed fine first 4 hours they swam then they just laid around then it went down hill fast i treated the tank, water changed. and my levels were all fine. before they got into tank, the tank has been running for a long time. have had mala'a. bowfin, red tail cuda's. aros in that tank and never had a problem. i dont think it was from my tank. but you never had a problem

pic? RIP. i've had a polypterus die in a few days after he stayed with my red wolf. no bit marks, nothing unusual outside. mysterious.

i have pics in my other thread, i can upload more of the female which had nothing wrong with her. no marks nothing. the part that gets to me is i paid 114 for 2 shipped. they where great i loved them, first time ordering from a online place. and they where going to breed anyone can fight me on it,they did everything a wolf fish does before breeding. they did it. then bam the make falls sick, saw it when i got home from the movies and i was on it. then they died. i have never had fish die on me or get sick and i know the tank is prefect condition for the wolfs, i made sure of before i ordered them. and i doubt i will get more sent to me for nothing. and i am iffy if they will work with me. and even if i got more wouldnt beat the pair of breeding wolfs. im lost lol
