Says the guy that looks like this?
dumbass-006.jpg

Yeah, I can post pics too.

How about you stop wasting OUR TIME telling us we're wrong when you have no evidence to say that you are right.

You must be a benny from North Jersey.... typical behavior of one...

no need to mention the first part .....its' pretty obvious :ROFL::ROFL:
until someone can provide pictures from a dat breeding facility I'm maintaining the above statement in regard to this thread :popcorn::popcorn:

Oh and YOU have expertise in this field?

We had a guy on the forum that lives in Thailand for ****s sake...WHERE THE DATNIOIDES MOSTLY COME FROM.... first hand see ridiculously small Datnioides for sale.

I mean, to say that ALL of these little ones are all wild would be the same as saying that 1-2" "wildcaught fish" from Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika are actually wildcaught. There's no way and the collectors certainly wouldn't bother catching them let alone selling them if they were actually wildcaught (talking about the supposed 1-2" tropheus and petrochromis that pop up for sale as wildcaught from time to time).

Find me photographs of collectors harvesting thousands of quarter inch - half inch Datnioides in the wild or shut the hell up.

The whole point of this topic was to speculate if the industry has caught up by hormone breeding the datnioides or if they are even able to be bred naturally in captivity given the correct amount of tank volume and foot print and conditions.... NOT for idiots like you to just ramble on that we are all idiots, that every single one of the thousands of datnioides we see for sale are wildcaught and that we are morons to think otherwise...

Listen NOOB .....I wouldn't even come within 20 mile of that dirty, polluted, guido infested, junk yard called the jersey shore.

What i have to say has been said over and over by dixon , vanimate, ade , funwow, datnoid101 and other membersthat actually own (and care for) dats like myself and also read what was previously posted on this site regarding this matter..... something that is too much to ask from someone like you.
This discussion along with the "stability", background color, multiple NGTs ones resurface every other six months or so without bringing any new info.... just transforming this forum into a broken record .....:irked:

Whatever benny. Go keep on wearing your excessive jewelry and cologne, driving 10mph below the speed limit, and not signaling. Hell, stay living next to Port Elizabeth. I hope you enjoy the cancer you get from living in that ****hole up there.

I just find it hilarious that I seem to know more about the aquatic industry than you do... You obviously have no idea what facilities across the world will do for quick bucks.

And I still can't figure why the hell all of you are getting so offended and bent out of shape by that it appears that Datnioides are being captive bred... Hell, obviously NOT ALL of them are. Just some. A guy from thailand even confirmed that people are selling them as farm raised in Thailand!

Is a human being raised from invitro or surrogate fertilization any less human or mutant because of that? What makes you think that if some Datnioides are being farm raised that it is so unbelievable it apparently scares the **** out of you so much to start screaming on forums that any body that disagrees with you is a moron and is completely wrong and "n00b".

Shame how people like you ruin intellectual discussions on a famous forum like this. What ever happened to polite, intellectual and educational discussion?

This isn't Xbox-Live. If you want to start rambling, posting stupid pics like "jesus thinks you're a dumbass" and shouting "n00b" why don't you crawl back under the rock you live in since you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

AT LEAST I HAVE THE COURTESY AND ETIQUETTE to admit before I spoke on this matter that I am not a biologist nor do I live in Thailand like classic chassis to witness the stuff firsthand...

And yes, there are very few but internet sources none the less reporting Datnioides being bred in Indonesia.
This was the first google result: http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/perches/GoldDatnoid.php#Breeding/Reproduction:

Here is a Thai farm that is breeding thin bars,

http://www.taweefishfarm.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

We have several fish soures through out the country either from natural resource or even from our breeding program fishes such as Eel fish group,Barb fish group,Catfish group,Siamese tiger fish,Archer fish group,Gourami fish group,Algae eater fish group,Glassfish group,Betta fish group,Tonguefish group,Brackish fish group,Croaker fish group,Snakehead fish group,Clown knife fish group,Pacu fish group and etc.

classic-chassis, since you live in Thailand can you call them to verify this information, that they are breeding thin bars? Better yet, can you go to the location?

I think even with that website link, the people who think dats can't breed in farms will still doubt it. They need to see pics of the eggs or fry.

I will indeed, good find! That fish farm is in Bangkok, about 20 min from my house!!
I feel a Sunday drive coming on.
Regards the claim ITs come from Sumatra. To import wild animals into this country you first need a certificate, giving you permission to import based on your needs.
Unless you are claiming they are smuggled in.
Then animals are quarantined until tests are carried out on all known diseases that animal may carry.
Not just one fish of a hundred but every fish you have.
once that is done they will release the animals but only under condition that you use them for the original purpose certified.
So lets walk through this.
Application: "I'd like to import 1000s of Indonesian fish."
"For what purpose sir? Study?"
"For Sale and export"
"Go away before i arrest you."
It really is that simple.

Some may not believe this and about that i really do not care. A friend of mine is the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the National Resources and Environment Department.
Before that he was the Director General of the National Parks and Wildlife.
I spoke to him last night about STs, he told me he knows there are programs to captive breed and reintroduce in to the wild. There are programs for all endangered animals in the Kingdom, even Asiatic tigers.
he told me the programs are Government funded, and for fish are carried out at Kasetsat University, Faculty of fisheries.
That's the same place that is trying to maintain all native species of fish.
Trust me the next day off i get i will be going there to get some data.
2 weeks ago i really didn't care if NTTs or ITs were farm bred or not. I started this thread because i had read on this site that Dats were not bred in captivity, i just thought it was odd seeing 100s up to 1000s of tiny fish for sale in shops and in bags on the sidewalk at one market. Now i want to know.

Thanks for going to check that place out. When you go, please don't forget to bring a camera. If that farm is indeed breeding thin bars, you will be famous for being the first person to discover and prove it to the whole wide world. Good luck.

LOL famous! I've sent them mail to check it's ok to go.
