yeah definitely. for that reason i havent bought any off-brand lens. nobody knows their own cameras/optics better than nikon. ive read that tokina makes some pretty good lenses, but with with sigma and tamron, it will never be as good as a nikon lens. you get what you pay forhaynchinook334;4251829;4251829 said:But don't take my word for it. This is the main reason that's stopping me from getting the D700/D3s. I really enjoy this lens. thats just a wet dream for me hahah. no way id be able to spend that much on one. just the d700 and the 24-70mm f/2.8 is like $4k
