Bringing a 1000 Gallon Tank To Life

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats a large tank dude...

LOL @ JK47's "ban"

Awesome tank man! I love the paper on the says not to move it! I can't really see anyone moving that stand around for fun.. lol

I had to level the stand beforehand because trying to level it with the tank on top would make it 10x harder.

I'm actually at a stand still right now because I'm having a hard time lifting the tank up. Seems like it has to weigh close to 1000 pounds. I can lift it up a milimeter on one end by myself and thats only because of the shift in weight on the platform in the middle like a scale. I'm searching for a safe way to bring the tank up, thought of using a forklift because the previous owner used one to load the tank into the trailer but pretty sure it won't fit in my garage door clearance of 7 ft or so.

If I can't find a way I may have to just leave it on the floor and sell that stand or use it as a big work bench or something.

Is the old suction cups and x10 guys approach not an option?

I'd just man it. Lift one end onto the stand and slide the tank on.

From recent searching I found this thread about moving a 1000 G Glass tank.

And it has some interesting ideas. I like the portable Pallet Jack idea.

Will try to find somewhere I could rent a couple of them tomorrow. The tank is a couple inches off the ground so I'd still need a way to lift it up an extra 4 inches or so, but I think I can try lift it up on one end and then pushing a cinderblock with some smooth wood on top of it underneath it and repeat the process for the other side.

I haven't thought of the suction cups. Is the suction power greater than gravity? I'll search up some suction cups but do you specific brands or places to get them?

I have heard some great reviews from the 4 cup model that Harbor Freight sells. I have not used them myself, I will be soon though. Hang on a sec and I'll dig up a link for ya so we can see what they are rated for. Hopefully they would work with acrylic as well.

I'm pretty sure this is the one I have seen others use. It says they are rated for 360 lbs each. Enough guys and overkill on these seems like the best option if it were me. Does anyone know if these work for acrylic as well?

EDIT:

I looked it up just now its a 125 pound capacity. Might try to do ten of them but if one slips then the whole thing will go won't it? I might just use it to slowly lift it up and build a pyramid of cinder blocks til I reach the stand.

Yeah I just checked their site as well and wasn't feeling the 125 lbs rated ones.. I remember the 4 cup model I posted above being what others have used.
