Bringing a 1000 Gallon Tank To Life

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'll go to home depot tomorrow see if they can help me out. I've actually seen them use a portable scissor lift for some guy buying 30 bags of concrete mix so maybe they will be willing to rent it for me.

Do that because I want to see it come full circle.

Go to napa or kragens or another auto parts store and get a couple engine hoists as suggested. Should be easy. And do you mean to tell me you cant gather up a bunch of friends to move the tank?

Get a group of buddies together and tell them pizza is on you...much cheaper than renting anything.

Is that indo the one you got from me?(in tahoe) Ive got some more fish fs.....dirt cheap too :) I could possibly deliver and bring a couple of us to help move the tank :)

Yeah its the same one, he's one of the toughest fish I have it's eating massivore and like crazy and some crawlers when I throw them in. Doesn't eat off the surface or market shrimp but his colors and fins are the healthiest in the tank. Yeah I'd buy at least two endlis if you could bring them within an hour drive of my house.

I just bought suction cups from harbor freight they are 200 lb capacity which is more than I expected considering the online cups were 125 lbs.

I just confirmed that the suction cups do work on acrylic as it made lifting one side of the tank 5x easier - too bad they only had 2 left in stock but I may go back and buy some of the aluminum suction cups that have 100 lb capacity and then return them all after the job is done.

Also rented this "genie" lift also known as a duct jack from Sunbelt Company for $50 a day. It has 650 lb capacity and can take it up to 10 feet high; all that is required is to get some people to lift up the tank an extra 3-5 inches off the ground and with the suction cups it makes the job much easier.

I see you're in Sacramento too, this wouldn't happen to be the tank from Capitol would it? I'm local as well and can give you a hand if you need. Lemme know :)

No it's not the one from Capitol, I don't know if they even have that one for sale. I got this one from a construction company up near Graeagle, CA said that they took this one out and was putting in a larger reef tank at their aquarium although I forgot the name of it was.

Hopefully, I can get enough of my friends and family members to help its just that they aren't always home at the same time so just got to set a time. But I'm sure I could do it with just 4 people because it's just a few inches to lift the tank up on the jack and I got a ramp I use to move it up as well.
