bristlenose pleco for a semi-aggressive tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
holy jeebzus no thanks, hah!

i wouldn't have a way to take proper care of a fish that big, despite the fact i would absolutely adore it ;-;

i've been avoiding too large of fish- trying to keep the max length at like 5-6 inches

20180726_064725.jpg i have a BN housed with a big@$$ oscar and they get on fine. This Oscar is very chill and laid back for the most part tho. I keep BN in most of my tanks. Usefull for algae control, wont get xbox huge, doesn't attack tank mates, and is ignored even by nippy or aggresive fish. Easy to breed too.

I once had mine breed without even knowing I had a pair.

Hey thanks everybody!

I ended up getting an albino bristlenose, since the regular bristlenose plecos at the lfs were actually common plecos. Hah. Goodness

Anyway, he's settling in just fine, and blends in pretty well with some of the decor. They are definitely underrated!

BNP's are a great pleco to have. I usually keep at least one in each of my tanks. They do a good job of keeping algae cleaned off decor. Plus they stay 5" range so no worries about getting big like the others do. Plecos can be addictive so be warned lol. I just picked up a quad of super reds myself at an auction last week I plan to breed. You'll find yourself looking at all sorts of different fancy L #'s soon.

For your new BN if you want to give him a treat put a slice of zucchini on a fork and drop in the tank for him every once in awhile. They love that.

Hey S Steve_C update us on your breeding attempt with your super red bristlenose plecos wil ya? I’m rather fond of them myself.
