I had this type of pleco with rays before its not the rays you need to worry about but the pleco as they stay very small rays normally rip them to bits

I had 3 bn's with my rays and aros, 1 week all were gone. added a gold nugget pleco a few weeks ago and it is doing fine.

It is not the best at keeping the alge mowed down but the tank is big and there is only 1. I have from 200-400 watts of light going during the day so the alge grows fairly quick. The pattern in the alge changes daily

I had two when I got my rays, aquaman told me not to do it as they might get stuck in the rays throat....I tried it as I already had them and love them for how they keep a tank clean. Mine were about 6-8 inches.

They lunched one in a month and the other lasted about 8 months but looked pretty "second hand" as they tried to get it a few times. In the end I rarely saw it and then one day I caught the male munching her. I won't try again.

They left the rays alone though!

How does the gold nugget do in regards to algae consumption? BN Plecos are known for maintaining a clean tank.

if you are only adding a pleco for the green get a uv no green and less chance of parasites

as for left over food and ray crap im telling you tinfoils all day long

Ok, so BN plecos can be just as bad as other variants..... not a good sign.

I disagree. The ray is more likely to eat the bristlenose plec, then the plec harming the ray. Nonetheless, I've found that the big bnp do well with rays that can't cactch them. Provide plenty of hiding space for them and keep your rays well fed and they'll be fine.
