Brought Home A Baby Largemouth Bass!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good luck dude they grow pretty quick in aquariums, and as far as pellet training it can be done but if yours is WC it's gonna take a while(went to a hatchery where there were isles of vats with LMB devouring pellets). As far as outgrowing that tank I'd say a year or so if you power feed him. Also your going to want to keep the water at like 70ish for best growth conditions.

Thank you very much, that gives me plenty of time to get a bigger tank :)
It adapted very well! It already follows my finger and I think is starting to recognize me as the food bringer XD

My largemouth was around 5-6 inches and in a matter of weeks would eat ANYTHING I threw in the tank. He would take a bit to eat pellets because he was waiting on feeders though. Once he realized he wasn't getting feeders he'd eat them.

Haha mine just saw my goldfish eating floating pellets and it tried to eat one and spit it back out lol and I finally got pictures. Here is a pre-sorry for the quality of the pictures :\

It depends on where you get 'em lol

Oh, And just where does one go to legally catch and keep undersized game fish?

I hope this is legal.

That being said...many basses will do a hunger strike. Let him do it for a couple days, and then offer small portions of many different things.

When I got my SMB, he was less than an inch long. I started him on live bloodworms, moved him to freeze dried, and now he takes newlife spectrum. Its just a slow process.

You can get little bass from private ponds. Sheesh guys don't have a hissy fit lol. Now that that's cleared up, any comments on my pictures? Haha :D

There are pretty strict rules on this website about legality issues. Having people talk about illegal things is not accepted.

That being said, private ponds DO allow you (in most states) to fish w/o a license and do many other things you cant normally do. Here in wisconsin what they DONT let you do, is move a live fish, or posses an undersized game fish. Two things you should be concerned about.

Fish looks fine.
