  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that sounds like a good price to me if everything's included. 750 for a new 120 around here.

why is it that eveytime someone wants advice on how to care for their fish someone has to derail with legality issues? why do you assume it was not obtained legally? you guys make this site less enjoyable...

Mostly because Local and Federal agents do patrol online forums looking for instances of poaching and illegally obtaining fish. If the person wants to show their fish off online, there are no problems but as soon as they do they open themselves up to the question of legality. Mostly to make sure the person does know the laws and to ascertain whether the fish was obtained in a legal manner. If everything is on the up and up, then there aren't any issues and the conversation moves on.

I'm sure MFK doesn't want to be seen as endorsing the illegal posession of fish either. As Fleshy pointed out, there can be serious consequences for illegally posessing fish. Heavy fines, jail time, and potentially losing your right to fish for the rest of of your life would suck bad.

It's all good Sp. I'm just happy to have the little guy or girl lol.. I don't know about a mate kurare, I already need a big tank for just the one bass! I'm looking at a 220g with everything and stand for $800. Sound fair?

Not really... I'm a DIY kinda person, and with 800$ I can build a massive plexiglass tank. Stand will be about 80$ worth @ homedepot, and the rest will be plexiglass all the way, or something stupid cheap on kijiji/craiglist. Remember, plexi is stronger than glass by ~10x, and when you join them its like "welding" its not really gluing the pieces together, so its pretty solid.

Here's a ~700$ build = 625g

4 pieces of plexi @ 175$ a pop + tax! Its so big you can build a small refugium on the side just for kicks with the left over material! :D

This is gonna be one of my projects when i have some money... *dr00lz

It states in the rules that if people start displaying and or talking about illegal fish that this part of the site can be shut down. Thats why.

Thanks Dark Jester.

That being said Im with Kurare. A plexi build would allow for a larger tank, and a in tank sump. If I end up keeping my SMB past his current 2" mark (I have several friend who want him in their tank) he is going to need a massive enclosure. There will always be room for lots of other fish in the tank, especially if you do a good sump build for some huge filtration.

I have two that I bought from some neighborhood kids and have had them in a 150G with my JD, Pleco and 4 Tinfoil barbs.
They really only want live food (worms, nightcrawlers) They took about a week to get homed well and ate after two days.
They are very cool.

Yeah they are really neat fish.. my school has a shop class maybe I could ask the teacher for advice or help with building a tank/stand lol
