damn, how big is that?
72 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 28 1/2" 150-Gallons. :D
Wish I would have taken a pic of it before. Covered with algae and what not. Scrubbed it down, and filled it to check for leaks. All went well, and now I have to get it down in the basement. :nilly:
It will be used for the Oscars, etc. ;)

Gotta say man, you are pretty awesome for doing this, I'm thinking about doing the same.. but no room at the moment, and if i cram fish in my current tanks it's not much of a rescue is it :/.
Hope it all keeps good for you man, if you were closer i would definately support you somehow haha :D

Thank you sir! Things are being upgraded and what not as time goes on. Example, big ol' Bruce in a 60-Gallon, now in a "pond", soon to be in a 150. Just can't wait until I get that 150 Setup. :D
lol, with the two different locations, it's understandable. :D

There are two, the first is a Frontosa Cichlid, the original owner did not want him due to his "pug like" face. He is about 2", and is now in the 50-Gallon Breeder tank with the other Cichlids. Very shy, but I managed to snap a few pics of him before I released him into the tank.

Love this post and what you are doing.

I'm in Milwaukee area - are we close to each other? I see you are in WI.

If you are running out of space in your rescue and are looking to "re-home", I would be interested in your "pug like face Frontosa". I have a fond place in my heart for the deformed face fishes.

PM me if you are interested in taking me up on this :)

I actually lost him in August, not sure why either. Heavy breathing was noticed, and that was the day before I found him dead. Everyone else was doing well in the tank at the time as well... Things happen.

Updated shot of the 150-Gallon. I'm still fighting with the water clarity; did a 50% WC yesterday to help that out a bit. It's not too bad, but it could be better! I'll probably have to upgrade the filtration somehow, and hopefully that makes a difference.

Haven't really put the word out lately about the rescue, mainly because of all of this ^. Needed to get rid of that "pond" and a larger tank up and running. And now I'm just trying to make it look fairly perfect, if that makes sense, lol. I did have someone with an Oscar that they wanted me to take in... for $35 :grinno: It will be one year at the end of this December since starting the rescue.

Subscribed! My hats off to you for doing this. Hopefully one day when I have the space of my own, I can do something like this out here on the West Coast. Good luck, hope everything continues to go well for you.

So it has been a good amount of time since I've posted an update, which I must apologize for. The rescue hasn't been running lately as in order to continue with it I needed one major thing... A JOB! lol, so now being 16, I'm working at my LFS, which should help pay for a few things+. Kind of explains why I haven't really been too active with the hobby lately, and actually cut back on a few of the tanks and fish.
Do I plan on starting up the rescue again?
It would be nice, but with work, school finals coming up, and one very important lady :D lol, I would love to start it back up during the summer. But we'll have to see; I don't see why I couldn't. Getting a sink finally put into to the basement to make water changes a lot quicker and easier as well.
Anything new with the rescues?
I did manage to adopt out the remaining Oscars to new homes awhile back, other than Bruce of course! And his lady friend, lol. Haven't had any problems with the remaining Monster rescues together in the 150-Gallon, which is always good. The Tilapia b. is in a separate tank due to aggression, which I suppose I knew that it would be a possibility at some point in time. I do have some video footage of the tank currently, but I'm feeling too lazy tonight to get it all together. I'll make sure that I post it soon though!
...pics?
Sure! Got a few of Bruce, which has healed-up amazingly from his horrible case of HITH, compared to when he first arrived. You can see one of the rescued JD's in the background of one of the shots and one of my CK's. The water is a little clouded in the pics of Bruce, as the Pacu decided to bug-out over a carrot he has missed that was on the bottom, lol, kicked-up the sand a little. ;) The tank setup is nothing special, all of the decor has been moved out for more space. When the videos are posted you'll get to see that...might work on it yet tonight....still not sure. ;)
I know I've had some crazy, and sometimes just plain stupid ideas in the past, but I'm planning on doing better this time around. Those who still despise the whole idea can continue to do so, I can't stop that; and to those that have been very supportive for the past year, I thank you.

love the oscar- i cant wait til ours gets big hes just a little guy now
He's a great Oscar, 13", largest I've ever had. Definitely seems a lot bigger in person though, lol. Seems to dwarf all of the 'large' Oscars that are brought in where I work.

Almost forgot about the video, here is just a few minute video of the tank during feeding time, which was meant for the CK's; didn't exactly work out that way, lol. Currently working on a longer version for the channel.
