umm...please dont let a pair of $50 fish destroy the fins of your more valuable show fishes. I think you already know basically the results if you threw them into that bigger tank...

Their aggression to any other fish is why I went with a VATF instead. Didn't want them
biting on my rays.

LoL ...Yeah I know, I thought I would just throw it out there!:grinno:

Mines nippy but yet to "destroy" anything although I will say I moved him in with my Silver Arrow and the dentex was all over it so moved him back with the vamp and cudas, all is well again. Might be because I got'm small and he's been "growing up" with his tankmates. He's easily a robust 7" if not 8" now.

well i bought on of these around 6 inches, i wish i would have bought other red tail myself. but with mind i have seen.

he swims all the time this is very true

he is weird. and super tuff. my story

mine would hide in the coner, and got beat down twice by my mala wolf. one time leaving a 3inch gash down his body, after that the wolf left him alone and he cuda stayed away from the wolf after getting beat up. now that the wolf is gone. he became back to his old punk ways, killled a dragon goby, is picking on a sliver aro.

but the feeding show is very boring. i think i need to get home some live feeders maybe that will get him back into it, now he just slowly grabs whatever no care or strike.

i am going to off him. hes cool to have for the swimmig effect, but not what i was looking for. but he tuff as nails to get beat up twice by the wolf , he healed from the huge gash in 2 weeks cant even see where it was . very tuff

I guess it's one of those difficult situations where they are too aggressive for the smaller tank but would be chum in the larger tank. I'd imagine that the Armatus would see some small, silvery fish and think it was his birthday..!

Is it just a pair that you have? What was the growth like?

Just the pair and I just about bought another one a month after but I am glad I didn't as their temperament changed as they got bigger. Growth not to fast but not real slow either.

Have you kept any other Brycon species? I know from experience just how quick Melanopterus Sp. Sao Fransisco can grow- I got the little guy at about 2-3" and gave him up at 8-10" just 4 months later. Judging by the post, it's been 4 months since you got the first one. Would i be correct in assuming it was about 4-6" growth over that period?

Regardless of their current attitude, a shoal of them would be really good to see- an interesting alternative to RBP perhaps?
