iv got these little insects that live in my 10 gallon planted tank. i spotted one for the third time last night. they dont seem to be bothering my fish... but i had planned on moving those fish into a 20 long and using this well established tank for cherry shrimp breeding. now im not sure whether or not its safe for cherry shrimp fry, much less the adults. i cant get a good picture of them because theyre to small for my camera to focus on but i can try and describe them pretty well, maybe yall can post pics of aquarium insects that fit the description and i can ID it. ( i will include some pics but i cant promise good quality)
in short, they look like little dragon flys, but underwater of course. and no, they arent dragon fly larvae, i have seen pictures of those and their larvae look nothing like the adults. these bugs are similar in appearance to an adult dragon fly. they have always appeared at about 1 cm long. body thickness is minuscule, maybe the width of the ball point on a ball point pen. the end of their tails is split in three sections, kind of like a trident. the first one i saw seemed to have tiny wings, but they looked to small to be of any use as far as actually flying goes. and they have ranged in color, the first one was brown, the second green, the one last night was clear/white. thats all i can tell you.
here's some pics. they are all the same picture with the contrast adjusted for better viewing.

when you buy new plants rinse them very well to avoid anything they may be carrying...I QT all fish and plants upon arrival..Not sure how to safely remove them invert safe though...Lupin will know.
