Will do! This is the topper/basking area we built for the 150 gallon they're currently in (pic is a little older...we no longer have cichlids). Right now it houses five turtles (River Cooter, Rio Grande RES, Mississippi Map and two Black Knob Maps), a Lima Shovelnose and a Tiger Shovelnose The topper on the 50 gallon will be similar only I'm hoping to make the basking area out of driftwood vs plexi on this one.
Thats sharp looking. Alright nobody steal these from me, but i really like these two. 47 or 75?
47 looks more natural and easy to tie onto the side of my stock tank. Will the turtles like it? 75 looks too man made and sort of boring, but i know it will work.
The size of driftwood will depend on what type/size and how many turtles you're putting in the tank. How wide are those two pieces? It'll need to be wide enough for them to get on and get completely dry. As far as look, I like the $75 piece but I tend to lean more towards darker woods (that's what we have in our tanks) but it's really just a matter of what you like and what's going to work
They are both 10-12" wide. And i dont think ill have more than 4 turtles, all small species as well. The advantage of the 75 dollar one is the turtles have more of an option to adjust their temperature with where theyre at on the log.
Yep...that's always a good option for them to have. Our turtles have a HUGE dock so they can get to whatever temperature they want. But if you like the look of the other piece better you could always find one like it and find a way to hang them both together
