[BUILD] Steveo's 300 Gallon Turtle Pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We've fed our turtles both ways. They were a little more shy about feeding out of the tank when younger but now they'll eat anywhere...they're pigs lol to make it easier for your little ones to find since they're soooo tiny in such a huge tank the donut may work. My suggestion though is to get a good digital scale and keep an eye on their weights so you can see if they're eating. If they drop weight you may have to start them in a smaller tank or put them in smaller bins to feed.

Well i saw two of them come right up to the feeding ring and start to eat. The other ouachita was hiding but i left a few extra pellets in there just in case. And lettuce all the time.

Great build. I use to have quite a few turtle species, definitely miss them!

A few thoughts..

- With the ambient air temp so low and the water temp near 80, watch out for respiratory infections. Pretty common in turtles and can be a killer especially when so young..

- As for fish, I'd be cautious to add anything to large or aggressive right now as the Maps are still so small. I had a pair of Cons beat the snot out of a 10in female RES. They go straight for the eyes!

I was simply suggesting for you to be mindful of them and keep a close eye on your turtles...

A few signs are lethargicness/basking constantly, weezing noise when breathing, and nasal/eye discharge.
