building a 500 gallon plywood tank

i used regular paint and then just used the 2 part epoxy , when i was talking to the man about the epoxy he said would stick to about anything, and i thought about the strenght it would or wouldnt stick too , i wanted to get red epoxy which on theirweb page , they had it , but they dont sell it , so this was my 2nd choice ,,, when i was paiting with e poxy the red was slowey turing the epoxy kinda redish, but the 2nd to 6 coat didnt do that , only first coat ,, i really wanted my red , i call hooker red lol anyway in a week or so will find out the truth ..... but i think it will be all good

You can run those overflows to the outside of the tank if you want. Maybe set up two of them like the picture I attached and keep the other two the same. That way you can skim the surface water with your two and also clean the bottom of the tank with the two in the drawing.

thats good thought too , my plan is haven 2 of them overflows , and the 3rd one will be 6 inch shorter so when i can do water changes , all i hav to do is open a valve and let gravity take over and the 4th will be my return littler higher then rest with a 4 way fitting to direct water different places ,,,,, but i have to say i do like skimming the top and bottom too , thanks for maken me rethink jk lol

If you wanted red you only needed to get a red pigment to add to the epoxy. But seems to all work out well for you. Can't wait to see how this red looks when filled with water.

no , i never seen a red tank , i just thought it be cool ,most tanks are darker color , blue or black , im a odd ball i guess , favorite color is red and thought it be cool in the tank ,,, and i look for red pigment for epoxy , and unless i couldnt find the right one , i found none that said was fish safe , i seen alot people use them ,bu from what i read , they didnt say fish safe , so i went this way , if i found fish safe pigment i would of added pigment to the epoxy

If the red was bleeding through...the epoxy def. Soaked up into the wood then :) def. A good sign. There should b no problems

well its late on x mis day , about 9 pm and i added water , only added about 5 inches so can check bulk heads for leaks and its only few inches on glass , and my middle bulk head had leak , i only had to give another 1/2 turn on the nut and it stopped , this is why im happy i made the hole in stand 2 times bigger then the tank , so the nut goes right to the tank , at first i made the hole the same size and put the nut under the stand not the tank ,, now can spot it right off , was very slow leak , only drop every few mins , anyway i stopp adding water and letting that sit for a day ,,, my thought is this way slowly adding water till its full, i can kinda tell where it is on the tank if a leak pop up ,,,i have a plastic foot floating on water so kinda see water line ,,,, till tomorrow
