NEED HELP ,ANYONE HELP OR THINGS TO TRY ,,,, i have 2 over flows and they are kinda loud , keep hearing a gulping sound , not really loud , but in living rom it sounds like a bath tube ,,, anyway i been playing with it and tried to block 1 over flow off and tried it with just 1 running , the water level raise good 1/2 inch higher in tank , but its still made the gulping sound , so went back too 2,, i tried putting a small piece of plastic above the over flow so that it cant suck air and make the gulping sound , but it looks like it kinda re strick the water flows ,, i was just trying different things , my woman put the sock over the over flow , which silent it like i want , but no way i could run with it like that , it get dirty and over flow my tank in few hours ,,,,, i think once i wrapped the stand and make the canopy it wont be so loud , but i would like to make it silent as i can , thanks for your help

From the pics I think you have verticle pipes for your overflows that go through the bottom of your tank. In that case, the only way I can think of to stop the gulping sound is to make it a pure siphon. If you have ball/gate valves on your overflow pipes, close them partially until the water level in the tank is sufficiently above the top of your overflow that it cannot suck in air anymore. If your water level can't go high enough to accomodate this, you may be able to attach an elbo and point it downward

Look up herby or some of the other style overflows. Basically you need two overflows. One running at a full syphon and the other one will have a valve on it and needs to be "tuned" to keep both overflows at the exact syphon needed to match the pumps return. Also it's nice to have another overflow as a safety set above the water level just in case one of your overflows gets clogged.

humm , i only really needed 1 overflows added 2nd for safety , never thought i needs a 3rd , i cant added a 3rd , but thanks for the info

You can try tuning 1 overflow for full siphon and use the 2nd as an emergency, or have one full siphon and adjust the water level with the 2nd

the pic above was the first run with filter system , had a leak and didnt like the way i had to climb all the way in to clean the soak , so thats why i started over , took out the hard plumbing , and got tube , i been playing with different ways , right now , my filter system is out side the stand so can can play with it ,,, my goal now is to have both socks in the corner and then my 2 pumps on the other side , with a sponge and plastic between the socks and pump as a 2nd filter system ,, the spong will have plastic behind it half way up tank incase it gets clog , water can over flow it and still make it to my pump

are you going to trim out the front?

yeah once i get time the tank and stand will be skinned and stained to make look good , thats all down the road , just trying to make it a tank then work on the looks , i plan on waterproff my stand too , thats kinda why i got the filter system not under the stand right now , once i get the stand waterproff with some epoxy , the filter system will go under the tank
