hey considering the height of your plan i would say 15 or 20 mm ,
full glass or just the front window?

its only for the front of the tank...the rest of the tank wall will be a 4" thick concrete that will be sealed off with Drylok and other sealants...and the glass will be in thought a 1" thick...

yes 1" thick is recommend. although by that time acrylic would be roughly the same price and be clear.

a 4x8 sheet of 1" acrylic around here is 800 or so bucks, and would be fine for a 3 foot tall tank, and good for resisting shock loads. Once you start getting big, acrylic is much cheaper than glass for joe anybody off the street. It's a longer procedure for manufacturers to assemble it, and requires more care in handling as well, which is generally why acrylic tanks cost more. Raw material is actually relatively cheap.

id personally use 15mm. but heyyou do wat you want just i would not go near there myself. ive heard some pretty sad stories about glass and people.

One tip sharp glass does not mix well with living creatures especially when impaled!

Dude you are the biggest drama queen on this board hands down.

Suprised you haven't given him the "barra grow to 6ft" speech yet.

I mean, let's not all ignore saftey completely, but Aussie here does have a point.

Gekkechichla,
Outstanding build, beb. Even if it was a build from before I dont care.
I love it: a 635 gallon "in place" build right in the flat. That just screams, "I want my tank, I want it this big and I want it right here right now."

Keep up the nice work. Looks great.

there has been a little setback the sand i used last week, was containing bits very small parts of clay, thats what messed up the water, so i take it out now and put the new sand in then we can start over cycling again:nilly:
