Bulging Cloudy Eye

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My guess is it did it on those rocks. Beautiful rocks though...I'd keep them. ;)

Also, a pH of 6.6 is not so low as to warrant mucking around with water parameters and risk doing more harm than good...if I could get pH 6.6 water I'd run it indefinitely with a big smile on my face. Do some research of your own before following any advice that recommends fiddling with your pH in your current range. PBass in the Amazon thrive in blackwater areas with a pH below 5, albeit for some relatively unique reasons specific to the blackwater "process".

I din't think 6.6 was drastically bad, that's why I started the PH thread. All I can do is troubleshoot & treat at this point. Hopefully it'll be alright!

The most important thing is to keep exceptionally clean water. Your Ph isn't too low, however depending on what comes out of your tap a Ph that is starting to drop can be indicative of poor water quality so from that point of view it could be an issue and a sign somthings not right. Make sure you clean your filters at regular intervals in addition to weekly 50% water changes. Aquarium salt dosed at 1 tbls per 5 gallons of aquarium water should help. If the condition doesn't look better in a couple of days after changing the water and adding salt, it is most likly a symptom of an underlying internal bacterial infection that will respond to a gram negative antibiotic. Try the water and salt as discribed above, it should help.

Op what are your water perameters out of the tap? Ie Ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate ect. Do you use a declor at water changes? What is your normal maintenance schedule consist of? A little background would to give a better advice or dianosis as to what this is. Could be as simple as a water issue or it could be an infection. Are these F0 or tank bred? That would make a differance in optimum water parameters.

Ok, this is not going to turn into a pissing contest. We're here to help the OP with a problem. Please keep your posts focused on that and that alone.

This is F0. I will have to test my tap water tomorrow when I go to work. I use Prime after every water change. I change water about 20% every 3 days or so, which I will be upping to every day for this tank. All other tanks; a 55 gallon, 40 gallon, & 300 Gallon all have fish with 0 issues in them. All the other fish in with this one seem fine also. Hopefully it is an injury (that's my guess after reading the responses & thinking it through) & it will heal. Time will tell. For anyone else, looking back on this, these little fry have eyes well outside of their bodies sides. I didn't troubleshoot some rock they all tuck themselves under to hide when I come in the room. That's probably what did it.

Keep us posted and hopfully all will be well in a few days.
