Yes. The angled black lines on the pvc pipe are slots cut into the pipe with a fine-tooth circular saw. 'Water seeks its' own level' which is what makes water rise in the pipe without suction or a siphon.

What head are you running the pump on (what's the height from the pump discharge port to the top of the tank)? RIO pump have a pretty big drop in header pressure. A 1000gph pump may only have 600gph at 4ft of head.

I also use this on my 120 gal tank, it works great... love it!! It does not take up alot of space in the tank...compared to the orighinal built in overflow squared chambers, that takes up a little space.

OK. Here's a few stats on your pump. It's rated at 1920gph at one foot of head. The output drops to 1500gph at 4ft. At 6ft of head, flow is at 1300gph. Add additional height if you're going to have pipe running across the top of the tank (ie: spraybar or just putting the outflow away from your intake.

Here is the way the "overflow" is setup on my tank. It works really well. Unless the water gets a little bit high it doesnt make any noise, and it wont siphon through that because the water level is so close to the top of the PVC
