Bull Shark Pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You better have some fast growing, fast reproducing fish because bull sharks cat eat about 40 pounds of food a day lol

You make a good point, any suggestions on what would be big, fast growing, fish that are easy to obtain or cheap?

Just get about 10,000 cinder plocks and make an insulated pond thats about 20x 40 would be easier to heat and monitor

Could I accomplish the same thing using dirt or are the cinder blocks necessary for heat retention? I have a tractor that i could use to dig a separate pond wich would be cheaper than cinder blocks if it would work.

Try to talk to zoodiver on here and alot of other guys it may sound simple on paper. I thought bull sharks only go to fresh to give birth and at that it's not 100% fresh ? Don't they need the nutrients from the salt.

Bull shark live in fresh water temporarily to feed and to breed ,not for there whole life . They can only survive in fresh water Only a certain Amount of time ,this is just my opinion and could be possibly wrong! But that would be awesome if you had it! I'd e scared seeing the dorsal fin swimming towards me even if I was on land ! Ahaha

Worse comes to worse you could always try native large fish...for example large fish like alligator gars (Down south)

Maybe pike....but I know what you want to see... the fin breaking the surface cruising the pond lol gotta be incredible to watch.

If only I had the land lol :)

Here in SA (Cape Town), we have Bull Sharks 1000's of miles inland up
rivers, living in the most drastic tempreture conditions that they have ever
been recorded in. Saw it recently on RIVER MONSTERS lol. Somehow I am
still not sure if it's a good or a bad thing, seeing as we are also the only place
with "flying" Great White Sharks.

Must be something in our water down here lol :)

That would be really cool.

Unfortunately, heating a pond like that even a few degrees would cost many thousands of dollars per month. If you could completely enclose a smaller pond in a greenhouse it might be doable, but the energy/fuel bill would still be astronomical.

If the Bullshark can handle the cold temps I don't see any reason you couldn't do it, just check with F&G to make sure you won't get in trouble!

If he has a farm he can apply for government grants to help bulid solar panels. The gov will pay up to 75%.

That's a great idea! Although I'm not sure how hip the government would be on heating a pond for a shark lol. However, from what I can tell it is not illegal to own a shark in Missouri.

Right now I'm trying to overcome my next big problem.... obtaining the shark. Does anyone know where I could buy a bull shark? All of the websites I've come across seem incredibly sketchy.

You are not using them for the pond. You are using them for the farm. The pond just happens to be on the farm. ;)
