Bullhead Care

Hmm. I'm still going to go with A. natalis, just one with oddly-pigmented chin barbels. The only other bullhead down in your area is the brown (A. nebulosus), and he definitely isn't that. Introductions are a possibility, but the other bullheads with dark fin margins also have white chin barbels.

Yellows are a big bullhead, and can be tank bullies. Don't keep him with smaller fish, and choose larger fish carefully. Sunfish should be able to hold their own with him. I'd say a tank with a 24" X 36" footprint is minimum to keep the fish for life.

I was going to build a bigger tank, and I guess it will be for this bullhead.
So a yellow bullhead right? I've never seen a picture of his coloration before though, is this normal? Also, I was planning to keep him alone anyways.

Their color and pattern is all over the place, and they can change it in response to environmental conditions. My yellow is about the same size as yours and he's usually black as sin with a white belly and chin whiskers; sometimes he's more brown. I've seen photos of some that were lemon yellow. Most that I've seen are a plain olive color, but some are mottled like a brown bullhead.

Hmm ok.
One more question, how do critters like this guy get introduced to once uninhabited creeks? The creek I caught him was man made about 30 years ago. It had nothing in it for a few years then one day mosquito fish started to appear one by one, within 10 years they were all over the place, then crayfish, bass, darters, and now bullhead catfish? I know it's a possibility they were intended to be stocked, but it didn't seem like it as they appeard one by one.

Deliberate or accidental stocking by people is a big possibility. Fish could also swim upstream or be washed in from neighboring streams or ponds during high water events.

It doesnt look like a yellow bullhead, it dont have long anal fin and its head doesnt look right for a yellow bullhead.
