great article sand tiger hey just a tought have you considered publishing a book on native fish if one was available at the lfs i'm sure it would sell i'd be your first customer

LOL...I would love to do that but at the moment I don't think I have enough experiance to offer that others have not already written. Once I have more personal experiance I may try to tackle a book. I get a lot of my info from books myself so I would feel strange writing a book with not that much of my own experiance. Don't get me wrong, a lot of what I wrote I learned from keeping the fish myself but not enough to make me book worthy. I don't really think there is a demand for that kind of book either.

Good article, never knew blacks could get to 25", wow. I don't think they get that big here in MN.

I doubt that many of them actually get that large but that is what fishbase posts and I trust them above most other sites so I went with it.

Outstanding article!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a very poinent point about the max size. Few people can realistically house a RTC or TSN for life. A bullhead is practical and as you stated certainly a monster when full grown.
It is interesting on the issue of growth. I have fished a lot of water bodies that have populations of bullheads that max at around 10"(likely stunted due to food avail)
My bullhead has grown from 3/4 inch to now around 11" in around 10 months with no sign of slowing down. Diet makes the difference.

Kudo's to honoring a very good aquarium fish.
