I've had leeches on me and on my fish. The best thing that I found was to use a knife and just scrape it off. Be sure you start from under the tail and scrape towards the mouth. Hope this works for you, The Doctor

I'm not sure if I made myself clear. I meant start from the underside of the leech's tail and work your knife towards the mouth of the leach. It should scrape right off. You might want to add some melafix just in case of infection but I've never had to.
I've had leaches latched onto my arm, and fish before, the thought of a knife seems so much more dangerous than it needs to be. Fire works really well, but not so much in his case for the fish. Sharp objects near a vital area on a fish that most likely will be flailing around is not a good idea. Stick to salt

I completely forgot about this thread. I got rid of the leach. I used tweezers to hold a grain of aquarium salt and rubbed it on the leach with the fish in a net, just barely in water. After a few seconds of that I grabbed the leach with the tweezers and it came right off. Three months later and the bully is doing fine. Thanks for all the suggestions.

no problem I do it all the time.. from between my toes usually.. I dont see what the big deal is.. do you guys have monster leaches or what? lol
