My bumblebee grouper. Only got to keep him for a while before finding him a new home here in Dallas.
Even so, he is expected to outgrow the 700 gallon tank. Hope we can move him to one of the two large public aquariums here in town.

You may want to try the Houston aquarium, their grouper tank (last time I was there anyway, couple years back) only had a couple medium sized, more plain patterned ones in there and I bet they'd take that beauty in a heartbeat. I hope to see one of these guys in an aquarium soon, have visited aquariums all over the east coast and have yet to see the bumblebee

Beautiful by the way. The most gorgeous grouper I've ever seen.

You probably have seen an adult. They loose this wonderful pattern as they age, ending up a a marbled brown color.

I don't know much about them but someone here recently referred to them as goliaths.

I have seen them say it gets to the size of a volkswagen so that would make sense.. that's awesome though, how did you come across a protected marine specie like that?
