im thinking 8' X 4' and allowing him to stretch out outside of tank daily

hey about the 10 foot in a year, thats crazy. i have a pair of retics which are get bigger, and are more aggressive than burms, in my opinion. the male i have had since he was about 2 1/2 weeks old that was 7 months ago. he is now 6 feeet long. i do not skimp on the feedings at all. about the enclosure size, if you can build now what a 12 foot snake will need. you put 8x4 what is that 8 foot long and 4 feet deep? if so how tall? burms as well as retics like to climb sometimes. my enclosure is 8 feet tall 7 feet long and 4 feet deep for my 12 foot male retic moose. he climbs just about every night to about 6 feet from the ground. you can go to the thread "moose" and see pics of the enclosure. good luck on the 10' thing hope ya do and keep a healthy snake in the process. don't forget pics.

mine was 12' foot when i put her down:cry: she was awesome but i couldnt affford to fix her mouth problems, nor did we have a snake surgin in the area:cry: she did try to hurt me a few times so please have at least some back up when handling yours. really be smart and be sure to have help. they are great animals but can hurt you fast on accident (yours) so please be carefull

in my opinion a good snake handler should be aware of the little and suddle hints and movements of snakes. every snake has them. i do agree with having back up though. i also think that before you go and get a snake that has the possibility of getting 8' or bigger you should have the experience of handling something with that much power.

I was planning 8' wide 4' deep and 4' tall which should last for quiet awhile and then just expand as necessary.

Im not saying he will be 10' in a year im just saying that it has happened so he could be. Out of his clutch he was by far the largest so logically he should be a good grower

i completely understand the 10' thing, and you sound like the type that will not harm the snake in the process. all i was saying was good luck. 4' is tall enough for the first year or so but i like to give them height as well as length.
