iv ended up going with a new 10mm base placed over the existing one with silicone along the crack and the new sheet siliconed on top, the base is to be supported more fully with additional pillars of block underneath.
I really couldnt justify the cost of a rebuild over the additional volume gained so cheeper option was £100 one metioned.

One day i'll have a monster not just my 300gal

I'm glad you were able to still use the existing tank and I think that was the best option for now. Please keep us posted on how everything works out for you.
