well.. super bad sad news.. was getting my 180 gallon tank ready to be installed. i have moved it out of my garage and placed it outside on its stand to get it ready for a fill test (resealed inner silicone) only to have my wife call me as i got to work so say it was cracked all along the bottom!!!!

so i moved it out of a guys basement, hour truck ride, i finally sit it on its stand in my backyard (on ashphalt that was level) and it cracks???

it was on its level stand, with plywood, and foam base that all is still just as i had left it.

the cracks start half way down and go all the way out to one side. 3 or 4 of them, like somthing beat the crap out of it. nothing was in the tank

confused and mad and out 600 bucks!

any ideas why this happened? glass heating up or somthing? maybe the stress cracks were already there and never noticed?

yeah, it did, first time i looked at it it was almost full, he drained it for me to pick it up... it just sucks... i was so pumped to get this thing going.

could be evrything. You moved it too much. Hell even a sandcorn can crack an entire tank when its placed under it and produces pressure on a single point. So its impossible to say

Maybe a bird hit it like that Windex commercial.... That blows tho.... Idk how big the cracks are but u could silicone them n put a big ass lizard or snake in there? So not completly a waste jus cant use it for what u wanted

moved to much? i know the risk im moving it but how less can you move a tank? to my house, then on its stand was the process. im not new to aquariums every precaution was taken i just dont understand.

in my driveway yes, but gated off and nothing around it.

yeah i got some friends that do the lizard thing... not my cup o tea but maybe someone will take it. how goes pricing for larger busted ass aquariums?

It must have not been level. Something was off, sounds like it had pressure points underneath the tank somehow.

Or maybe the wifey really doesn't like the thought of another tank lol

Maybe your wife did it...and blamed it on mysterious circumstances...

^ I am not responsible any argument, dog house treatment, etc resulted from the above line...if it is just a glass pane, can't you just replace the glass?

tearing down the whole tank ordering a new pane, resiliconing everything.. bah... i just finished getting this one all perfect.. i probably could and should, but i just as soon drop some more coin in a bit and get a big als 180... i think its like 650 plus tax here
