There are several plants of suitable size and form available, those that require soil can be potted first, they even make small pots that look like small hollow rocks

guppy you saw the size of my substrate right... at this point (til i move) tehre isnt much I can do in the way of plavcing soil in the tank, what can I do for plants in that predicament? I'm like the uber n00b when it comes to plants..

I have 9 types of plant in a 30g tank, Two are floaters and seven are rooted in peat disks hidden by rocks glued into pot shapes. I just like heavily planted tanks, some people like totally bare tanks, if the fish are healthy and happy and so are you then it works fine. No such thing as a bad fish tank.
