about a year ago i purchased 6 small butti's and about a month ago 2 finally paired off, the male went crazy and i had to get rid of the other 4, unfortunatly when i got rid of the other 4 the famale went crazy on him, he wasnt tough enough i had to get him outta there too, i put the male in a different tank just to give him some confidence, and he is doing well, but im gonna wait about another year and see if i can introduce him to her again, i have observed the behavior of Butti's the two i have are 7 inches long, and they can really fight, but they can also be cowards with certain fish, my green terror's do anything they want with them, the famle butti is scared crapless of the famale GT who is about 4 inches long and the male who is about 7 inches long, but she will kick the crap out of my Male Texas cichlid with the quickness byt the way both GT's are scared of the Texas C., My jack Dempsey and the female butti had a big fight and she really kicked his butt, but he was relentless even thought he was getting the tar kicked out of him by her he never quit, she gave up now he chases her around when he feels like, it, i have notice that Butti's will give up they dont have the heart to continue if its a fish they are evenly matched up with. Now these fish are only 7 inches long so things may change, but when i see the threads about how tough butti's are from my personal experience that had 6 for a year they can fight(and are very aggressive with each other) but they are not nearly the aggressive fish everyone says they are. after all is done, they are a very nice fish to own and they are my favorites, and im happy i have them, i hope i can get the male and female together in the future.
