You hit the nail on the head...it all depends on the disposition of the fish and the size of tank it is in...My butti happens to be pretty laid back...it's about 10" now.

i just wanna ask if this cichlid would work with my bichirs. coz my tank seems to look empty without a middle to top dweller, and i saw this fish in my LFS and i love how it looks.

I have my with a Trimac, Red Devil, Barred Midas, and Female Dovii-at first they were curious and would peck at it then after an hour they got bored. They have been together for close to maybe 3-4 months now. BTW the Bichir I have is an End.
One problem I do have is the competition for food make sure you feed your Butti first then drop some shrimp or food that sinks to the bottom. I for example feed my guys pellets and while they are eating I drop-2-3 pieces of shrimp. But if you dont do that your Poly will starve.

BTW-caves!!!! Your Poly needs a place to hide or it will die of stress.

buttis are full on man i had one kill my saratoga and 2 oscars overnight. they are a boomerang fish as in they just keep comin back to the lfs the one i had was returned 8 times because of aggression. hahahaha

Update-I think my Endi thinks its a cichlid-he hangs out with all of myfish except the Female Dovii. And today he ate Pellets-never thought that my Endi would ever eat pellets.
