CA Fish & Game Commission President Shoots Cougar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I likes me a good redneck buddy, I can't hunt so the only time I get to enjoy some good meat is when a buddy brings it back for me when he's got some extra. I really appreciate it too because I'd much prefer a natural meat, whether deer or boar (the usual ones here), then a bunch of medicated meat from the store.

Going back to the story finally, he hunted it legally, he probably should've thought about how it would go over when the story broke, but he stood his ground too. He didn't do nothing wrong here, I'm only curious if he bagged the meat for later use too and if he kept the skin for tanning - looks like a beautiful fur pelt to use for a hat, gloves and some boot linings.

I still say it's sad such a magnificent creature had to be killed because our fat commisioner was bored and hungry.

my sentiments for sure.. this was a gorgeous creature...

But unbelieveable delicious :)

The cougar was taken legally and eaten, period. Man up

Hunting this cougar is something only hunters can enjoy. They have every right to enjoy this sort of thing. I do eat meat but i find it a waste to kill a animal for sport. Thats just me, but life can be ugly and ppl enjoy doing things that other ppl find disgusting.

Nothing wrong with what he did at all. Legal taking of a regulated species. Who cares. If anyone has a problem with courgar hunting in Idaho - they should do something about the law - not the people following it.

i think this is what it really comes down to. if you don't like it, try to do something to change the law, not crucify the guy following it

The commissioner worked his ass off for that meat and pelt I guarantee it. If you think it was easy go hike through foot deep for 4-8 hours up and down the steepest tree covered slopes you can find. Caz that's were a mountain loin goes the second it hears or smells anything out of the ordinary. hunting cats is seriously hard work!

And if.you do suceed in getting that animal banned from hunting dont cry when you, your child, or.pet inevitably gets attacked and subsequently eatten because that is what will happen.

I see it this way. Lets say you have a cop in your town that is on a task force that sets up stings and bust hookers and their johns. That same cop goes to Nevada and goes to a whore house. Yes its legal, but not a wise decision.

Depends on your view point. I hope the commissioners hunt leads him to open a season in his state. Lion hunting is very hard even with a great pack of hounds and horses. And in most states less than 20 a year are successfully taken.this is just a guess but there aren't many houndsmen. I've tried twice and have yet to lay eyes on one except for its tracks. They are hunted here in colorado legally and we still have them spilling over into heavily populated cities. one of my friends buddys was attacked, killed and half eaten while training for a track meet about twenty years ago in idaho springs. we have lions coming into the city boulder every year. And I've handled two calls for lions in the city of denver in the last ten years. And a few for black bears to boot.
