CA "rocky shores" community update log

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lime stone can alter your ph. You may not want that. I have something called Mexican river rock (google it) it will match your background.

Love your sajica! Hate your tank didn't work out the way you planned...but cichlids rarely allow that to happen
Thank you, I love the sajica too, he might be my favorite fish. Zero fear of me, always begging for food, and very nice colors.
Heavy, Thank you, I will check that out. If I can't get any rock that matches well, I'll probably just wait for algae to grow, then it will all match pretty well haha

Here's a better pic of the larger tamasopoensis.

Everything is still working out, though he chases the smaller one a bit more than I would like.
I think I am going to order some P. Panamensis this week, as they are a species I have wanted to keep a group of for a while and some just came available. I will probably put them in here and leave it alone until things grow a bit, and most likely will re-home these tamasopoensis down the road.

Here's a tank shot, added more rocks and algae is starting to grow. I change the rock formation every time I do a water change, so it varies a lot. But always looks pretty similar.

Most c/a species live above limestone in nature. The buffering effects of limestone in aquariums is minimal, what with the amount added and water changes.c/a cichlids thrive in hard alkaline water.I see no issues with it for this type of set up.

Update: Got in 6 P. Panamensis from wetspot tropical fish today

So now I'm done adding fish. Current stock is:
2x tamasopoensis
6x panamensis
1x sajica
1x nicaraguense
1x neetroplus
4x ameca splendens
2x swordtails
The tamasopo's are definitely not staying in here for life, Not sure what exactly will stay in here for the long haul but I will figure that out when they get bigger. For now they are all happy chasing each other around through the rocks.
