Here's a couple mystery cichlids I got while catching bait the other day. I think they are salvini but not positively sure.

Wow that is a wild caught salvini I'd keep them there fishies...lol. Is it illegal to keep them or can you?

It's legal to keep as many as you want since they are not native. Once I get my tank running I am for sure catching some more. I love the colors especially the red and blue highlights. They make great Peacock bass and snook bait.

It's not really a freshie snook. I caught them in brackish water on a 2" mayans. At that same spot I seen a guy pull up a 2lb Mayan cichlid off a live jumbo shrimp. I just got back from a rainy day/boredom cichlid fishing excursion at my local canal. Heres some pics of the bigger ones I caught.


(I wear a size 12 just for comparison)


This is just a slab of a Mayan I caught last year just thought I'd post it to.
