My lfs dosnt sell any aros bigger then like 10in so I will start with one and I will grow it out then go back and get cichlids. I think that will work..

or you can get small cichlids . and give them hiding place . sounds like a tankful of fun! When you intoduce them, I'd have an emergency backup place to put one if they fight too much.
IMO it depends on the temperement of the fish, It could work, It could not...I think I saw a photo of an aro with a jag tankmate in here...
I would Keep the aro in the tank for a few weeks before introducing any other fish. This way the aro will be the more aggresive fish.
This worked for me when I had 3 aro's together. I had the smallest one (6") in there for a few weeks and then introduced the other two (12" & 22")
It was sooooo funny watching the smallest one chasing the other two around the tank.
They were getting along fine, but one jumped out and died. The good news is, I have a 2 aro community with no problems.

Yea my lfs has like 5inchers for like 35 and Im going to gorw them out to at least 10in

Would a bicher go good in this tank? I have plenty of hiding places...I was thinking an ornate maybe?
yeah i keep a jag with my arow to the arow is only 2 inches bigger as well but having said that my jag is 10" and lives with 3" severums as well as 9" severums, i think if u had a flowerhorn then id say no, the RD and jag will be better. just have a divider just incase
