Caimen enclosure..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats one hell of a enclosure.... get a pair....

yeah 18' is huge.. you don't realize it til you tape measure it out.. I would go with the rubber maid suggestion and keep a seperate fish tank. Common sense tells me no fish even the largest cichlids would live long in there.

Your filtration system is going to be major issue if you intend on keeping fish with the caiman which can get up to 5 feet long, imagine the size of their waste and the ammonia build up, if not filtrated properly the fish would die of bad water parameters before the caiman has a chance to get a bite to eat.

^^very true.. didn't think of that..

when you said that i tried to measure it out and there was not enough room in my den:ROFL:

I know lol I was measuring out space for a pond/tank the other day and barely got to 10-12ft even if I got creative with moving stuff around.

where do you have space to build this? Your parents let you? I am just curious, cause that would be awesome!!! Maybe a pool bead filter would work. Still, this will take some major $$$ to make

Yeah I thought about that, and I have been researching this kinda thing for a couple years now..

I allready have a 210 (7x2x2) sump, and a bunch of canister filters waiting to be used for this if I go through with it.
So filtration isn't a problem, as for fish..I know their is a possibility that they wont last long or not at all..But I am whilling to take that chance.;)

So I want to know..Like since everyone says this is really long.. Could I cut it down to say 8-10' long instead.. like have it 8x8x6 instead.. Or any other changes I could do..

as for good enclosure what is it out of 1-10 10 being perfect, 1 being horrible?

That enclosure is bigger than my dorm room!!!!!! Hell, I'd be happy to live in something of that size. That could possibly work. Might want to get some logs to place in the water.

yeah I know logs/rocks/plants.. lol I can't draw those too good..so i left them out..

But i take it that everyone likes it :headbang2
so I am happy
:)

Also, Paleosuchus sp are the least aquatic crocodilian...half land area with room to dig a burrow is supposedly more preferable (That's how I'm going to do mine anyways).
