Callamanus: The war begins

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah levamisol is the last resort. What's the hcl stand for? As of right now I don't know if the tank the Severum is in has any callamanus but it has had it in there.

Hydrochloride. It was my last ditch effort to save my midevil as well. Everyone said it was an extremely harsh treatment so I kept a close eye for changes in behavior during the treatment, but he didn't seem to stress much. He ate like a champ afterwards too lol

Severum hasn't been pooping the last couple of days. He eats less and less. I think the fenbendazole has paralyzed the worms inside him and he is having some problems getting them out. His fins are rotting. I'm going to treat with maracyn2 and try to obtain some levamisole via net but if it can't be here within a few days fenbendazole will commence as I don't want to miss a week. I'm finding thin strands of bubbles in the tank and I'm sure they are eggs of some sort.

How's the sev holding up?

He came down with fin rot that has wrecked his fins and moved to his body in a few days. I stopped the fenbendazole treatment because he stopped eating and became real lethargic.

Treated the tank with tetracycline which I found out was nearly pointless in my Ph. I'm doing a lot of water changes and adding carbon to remove that treatment to start with triple sulfa. The tetracycline must've helped a little as he has enough strength and energy to chase away the bn pleco now.

I feel so bad. It's all my fault as I didn't quarantine. At least all my future fish benefit from this lesson, I guess.

What a bummer...I'm hoping he pulls through for you man. Though even if he doesn't, like you said, it's a learning experience that your future fish will benefit from. Best wishes for your sev.

I just seen a white worm sticking out of my severum's right gill. It looked just like the white worms I've seen sticking out of the guppies that were in there.

Does callamanus pop out of the gills too?

I don't think so, could be an anchor worm.

They have the potential to cause some serious bacterial infections.

That would be really poopy if he had gill flukes or anchor worms plus the callamanus. Hopefully this triple sulfa I'm using to help him fight off the bacteria infections will work with one treatment so I can move on to the worm situation. I'm gonna order some levamisole off this website I found online so he can absorb through the skin since I can't feed him the meds as he hasn't been eating. I asked the community if they've heard of this specific website I'm going to get it from but nobody replied so I guess not.
