I have a 500gal and driftwood I boiled my wood for 4hrs a day and let it soak at night for 10 days straight before putting it in my tank when I was starting it up it took 5 weeks and 2 -30 percent water changes a week to get it crystal clear with adding 5lb of fresh carbon a week with my pump pushing 3000gph so you just have to wait it takes time with driftwood

tank looks huge man. how many gallon and what are the specs of it? just curious

with that said. your tank looks pretty clear man. like other said. its prolly the wood tanning the water. or it looks like your substrate is brown? that and the white background makes the brown stand out thus making it look like the water kinda brownish based on the pic. if not, just do water change till it gets clear.

Surely is not my first tank. Tank of this proportion tho it's my first. I have a drip system running on it and change about 75 gallons every other day on top of the drip. Foot print is 6'x6'x2'. I soaked the driftwood for a week and a half or so. All my params are perfect...was just curious how lo not took your big tanks to clear.

To your lighting question, I like 10k it is crisp blue/white but it also has a strong spike in the red spectrum to bring the reds and yelows out. You have mess around and see what appeals to you.

Does the 10k promote algae? I won't be running my lights all the time. Just when i want to see them really.

It can under certain conditions but run as an example 8 hours a day no not usually unless something is out of balance.

Nice tank- it could be the wood- or it could be the sand.. what type is it? are you running a UV? Uv helps get that crispness.... My tank was hazy when i set it up for a week or so...

here is a pic the first day it as running
