As some of you read I will he going to school to get my masters in Ichthyology. When I get out of college however I want to get as far away from NY state as possible. I have always liked the idea of Texas and have a few questions for those who live there. Is there work for someone with a degree like mine...? What's the weather Like average? What's the gas prices like? How bad are taxes and are there any hardcore laws against animals? If anyone can shed any light on life in Texas let me know. Thanks!

I want To be close to the Trinity river. I really would love to study the alligator gar. An I believe that's the river with the most population correct? So somewhere around there.

That's up in the dfw metroplex down through houston...I'm in san antonio. I really can't speak to which river is more populated with specific species. Good luck.

All I know is that is cheaper than FL and CA (I wanted to live somewhere warm by the beach ,... this came out of my nonextensive research ... LOL)

I just recently moved to Texas from New York this past January and this has been my experience thus far......... The people are really nice and VERY laid back compared to many of the people in the northeast. In new york i have met many ungrateful people in my life but down here in Texas the people just love their state soooo much and that really shows in alot of their personalities. Also, the cost of living down here is much less than virtually anywhere in the Northeast by a longshot and this is always great. The food is pretty good if you like massive steaks and mexican food. The women are pretty, the temperature is sizzling, something i am really not fond of though. It almost never rains it seems, which is good and bad. OH yea and mariachi bands hahaha. let me think some more here.......
