My rotkeils were in a 6 foot tank with a group of adult hecklii. The hecklii ate all of their fry and they laid a new batch every 3 weeks. Like clockwork. I didn't have tank space for the fry so I didn't bother collecting them.
They're now in a 360 and trying hard to find a space to spawn but so far no luck. I think they have laid eggs but with bichirs and catfish in there, I don't think eggs would last a night.
very nice pair... some of my fry have gone to the toilet bowl in the sky but there still a good bit going strong...lol what will i ever do ha ha ... its ok i love severums id keep them all if i could.
I did. At one time in my 180 I had a pair of Rots and a pair of greens both with fry and a pair of JDs with free swimming fry all 3 at the same time. That was neat but the tank was a total war zone and i was glad to see them all gone by weeks end.
I seperated my pair of Rots because they were the most aggressive and weakest, hence most often beat up. Now I have 2 pairs of greens with no JDs and a pair of very rare laying golds. The greens have minimal sucess due the large number of catfish in this particular tank and nothing lasts longer than a week.
