Here's a few pics of my male rotkeil. I've had him for about two months, and he's about 6 inches. I had some issues trying to keep him with other cichlids, but now that he is by himself with just some rainbows and plecos, he is doing great!

Looks great! Very nice color and fins.

Somehow female rotties seem harder to find....those with lots of red anyway...weird!

Thanks :) Honestly, rotties in general are hard to find by me. I paid $100 for this guy just because I was so happy to find one locally. Go figure a month later I would see a whole tank of them at another LFS for $45 each.

i rearranged my 55g last week, took out my ratty amazon sword and moved the two pieces of driftwood. last night i noticed my females' tube down. i went running this morning and sure enough when i got back there were eggs again. i think this time im gonna try and raise them a bit in-tank. im going to put something over the intake of the filter to keep them from getting sucked up and get some food for them. i caught them in the act when i got home :D

what do you have in your water Sean? :D

Why don't you pair up your nice male rottie with this female?

idk whats with the water. i keep the temps at 82ish, pH is about 6.4 and nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia are all very low since they are the only 2 fish in the tank. im running two AC110s on the tank and then do my water change once a week. some times ill do it a day or two earlier, some times a day or two later

i've considered pairing up the two rots but there are two things. one i know and love the interaction between these two. they are alwasy swimming together in the tank and idk if the male rot would do the same. second, my g/f loves the two together and says they cannot be broken apart :D
