Calling All You Severum, Uaru & Chocolate Fans ............

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey you guys,

I seem to have discovered my perfect thread!! :nilly: All three of these fish I have been contemplating for the last month, and this seems to be the best place to seek advice.

I currently have a 120 gallon with 2 keyholes, 2 blue acara's, 3 pictus cats and 3 small clowns. I'm considering adding 2 Severums (Green or rotkeil, open to suggestions) and possibly a chocolate cichlid. I'm unsure of the Uara, as I find the chocolate and sev's much prettier.

Can the chocolate be kept on its own, and what's their attitude like, generally?

Any comments on the addition of these severums??

Thanks. :grinno:

in my opinion chocolate cichlids dont mind to be alone but you can also keep them as a pair. They like standing near the surface waiting for food, arent very aggressive and could be a good addition for your tank.

@ Ryan: yeah, the old shipping problem. If I'll ever find a way to ship fish to the US I let you know.

Do you still have your Heroina? There are a few places in the Netherlands selling them, but of course they don't export.

Heros cf. notatus "Guyana" Male

That's a beautiful fish!

Sorry for the latin names, but without them its hard to keep all the species apart.

Nice I'm loving your Heros cf. notatus "Guyana" Male.

Esteban I really like the Inirida.

Buddha that pic of your amphiacanthoides finalized my decision for a 2nd 120 for those guys to match the one for the ferns.

Seccion, the first SR and a different, but equally good looking rotti are going up for adoption soon. I have 3 of each in 3 separate tanks because none of the SR would get along with the others, nor would the rotties. Within a week of getting them, the one in the picture decided "her" spot, was right in the middle of a 90. Everyone else could have a corner, so long as they didn't swim more than 6" from the bottom.

I wish I lived closer! I'd pick up that super red. I had two but lost one to bloat at 5". The other is about 8" now and he's my boy. I don't usually get attached to fish, but he's always at the front of the tank to greet me and he likes a pat on the head when I've got my hands in the tank.

"He's my boy" haha. I know how you feel bro, my datnoid definitely knows when I'm in the room. Btw Ry what did you feed these notatus? They've been eating my tetra granule mix that I feed my geos/tetras so far

^ They should really eat anything. Mine were getting Hikari pellets, ONF2 veggie pellets, freeze-dried blackworms, frozen Hikari bloodworms, and the occasional frozen beefheart or mysis shrimp. They weren't too picky.
