Calling All You Severum, Uaru & Chocolate Fans ............

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not sure, Peter. The ferns changed hands again after they left me. Al's tap water was no better than mine apparently and the HITH continued.

I'm still not sure why certain things do so well for me, but not the Uaru. I know my pH isn't great, but I've got a ton of wild fish spawning and thriving here with no signs of health issues. It's puzzled me to the point that I drive myself crazy thinking about it. So I've moved on to other species and given up on that one.

I'm keeping the red/gold pair, simply because because I've had them for two years and am attached to them.

Why not keep the dat if you are going to do a 180 with more dats? From what I've heard you can mix dats of different sizes but you have to get a bunch of them.

i only have room for a 4ft tank and a 6ft tank. they're in a built in "sunroom" at my apartment and there's walls enclosing a 52" space and a 76" space. kind of like it was made for the tanks lol.

Thank you guys, chocolate cichlids are my favourites because they are easy to breed and you can keep them with many other fish, especially earteaters. And they are more peaceful than Sevs, dont disturb freshwater rays our large plecos etc.

More pictures, I got the same problems with my fernandezyepezi just like you, Ryan. They were very expensive to keep and breed so I finally sold them. If I remember right we already talked over youtube. (Krobia sp. Xingu)

Uaru amphiacantoides, Uaru:

Female:

Juv (Wildcaught from Brazil)

Uaru fernandezyepezi, Panda Uaru

Juv

Adult female with HITH. I got her like this, she never really recovered :(

Beautiful Eska, just beautiful. So you where keeping your Uaru fernandezyepezi with Satanoperca daemon and Heros atabapo (hard to tell in the second to last pick on the heros?

I hoped to have the exact same stock list for my 300 gallon but could't afford it. Good for you.

yeah almost right, at this time i kept them with S. daemon (Wildcaught from Colombia), Metynnis sp. (not in the picture) and some Heroina isonycterina in a 260g grow-out tank, later I only kept them with S. daemon and some Myleus (rubripinnis / schomburgkii). But I also have some Atabapo Sevs (true Heros severum / mouth breeder), pictures maybe tomorrow.

And to be honest those Panda Uarus arent very expensive around here, a few days I saw some around 4" (10cm) for 19,50€ (25 US $) each and smaller ones are even cheaper, so at least they are affordable.

Here in the US aside from fish clubs or private collections, the best price I can get locally (no shipping) is $80-$90 USD for young wild caught pandas about the same size as above. Your lucky to be in Germany Eska, I'm jealous.. Thanks for sharing! ;)
