Came home to a cloudy tank. Help!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
update the test kit and put the ammonia chips back in... the chips are not the problem but it is always a good idea to have them what size tank is it and what is in it?

that is odd if the tank is cycled in 2 weeks and the fish are dieing... how old is your test kit and deff check the ammonia you may just be getting started into the beginning stages of the cycle process.

My 1.5" thinbar dat that died was actually the most stable looking 1 in the tank. The others look good today. Bright yellow and swimming all over.

I kept feeder guppies in there all week too, and they all have been eaten.
Could that have been a problem?

150g, and I have (2) 1.5" thinbar dats, and (1) 4.5" indo dat.

Ph test kits can go bad fairly quickly in my experience and give very inaccurate readings.
Did your PH maybe crash?

yeah could have been if there was some left over pieces of the feeders in the tank could have caused an ammonia spike but i am still wondering if the tank was fully cycled in 2 weeks i have heard of 2 week cycles before but never done it myself. you need to check the ammonia to know anything right now and keep an eye on your nitrites if you start to see them rise then your tank is not cycled yet. i had a small red belly piranha in a 10 gallon until my 120 was ready and it took 2 weeks just to se a spike in nitrites so try and get a new test kit and keep on testing

ph is not the likely cause the 150 is a large tank with a small number of fish i have a feeling you are starting to see the beginning stages of the cycle

I will buy a new test kit today.

ok well if your ph is fine then just keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrites because they are usually the first to change in my experience.

i can almost garantee that your filter or somthing broke in your tank contaminating it.
