We are going to need to break out the table saw again. The drip tray is going to need some supports under it.

Yeah I know. I'm going to use those 3/4" rods we cut as the supports.
I'm going to connect the bracings with them in the middle horizontally. I just havent done it yet because I want to brace the top of the tank first, then the inside rods.
I can cut the 3/4 inch rods with pipe cutters. Leaves a nice clean cut.

Subscribed! I see many GT fry in your future :headbang2

awesome set up man, poeple like you inspire the rest of us to give more to our fish. i know what you mean about tkaing care of your own tanks isn't the same after spending a day on other poeples. especially when its for rich poeple who can throw money at you and the tank, ane make your own look like a hand-me-down, just like your tanks do to mine.
lucky for me i live where cinder is right outside my backdoor, thats what i use for my bio and i've had nothing but succes. if its cheaper than scrubbies by volume you should give it a try, i think you'll be surprised.
i love how youre dedicated to raising these fry right, i hope they go to good homes, and when you get attached it gives you an excuse to get another tank :)
so is that a pair of stubby GT's? i can see that the male is but is the female too? or am i seeing things wrong altogether. a snook trimac sounds awesome, how do they turn out. is that last fish in the video one? i can't quite tell if its a young parrot or what.

Thanks guys. Yeah those are both short bodied GT's. Male and Female.
It looked like I was going to get something out of them in the beginning, but now they ignore each other. I'll swap out for another female soon. Try my luck again.

ok, if no one else is going to say it i will.
please change your avatar:barf: :)
i think we should start a "lets change cams avatar" thread so we can eat before getting on.
what does everyone think?

170 gallons.....;)

The sock helps in three ways. One, I have a Huge pump going on this bad boy and it will help lighten the load of what goes into the tank (also have the butterfly valves to help). Two, It will help filter out very fine waste that the filter pads and bubble trap dont pick up. Three, I have lot's of room in this sump to play around with(72x24x22), so I'm trying to experiment with new things...
I'm good on bio filtration. I just want to make sure I'm good with the mechanical.
I'm sure it would probably be better to put the sock before the pump rather than after. That way its screening out 100% of the water going through the sump instead of the fraction I make it after the pump, with the ball valve. But I could use the pressure relief. So it is going as it is.

Hope that makes sense..

And remember, this is a rough sketch.....

Y'all know what I mean when I say sock? it's made for fish tanks. Usually used in salt setups.

One problem is, they do such a good job they get clogged easily and overflow out the top. But since It will be inside the sump, I'll be good to go.

Here's a pick of a couple in action. NOt sure of what brand, but filter sock is filter sock.
Aside from what micron it is....

Opportunity dude. Opportunity....That's all it is. I see an opportunity and I take it.

It's all up in the air now. I've got those GT's I'm messing around with.
I'v also got an SRT project that I'm working on. We'll see how that works out. Also, Once I grow out and sell the fry I have now, I'm going to put a good 1.5-2 grand into some good Full pearled, fat headed, good colored, thick Flowerhorn parents. Try my luck there. I'm a little behind schedual, but we'll see. Like I said before, I'm hoping the whole Flowernhorn/Hybrid thing is just a phase I'm going through. If me from 3 years ago met myself today, I'd be kicking myself in the face for having hybrids.
