Can 1 person transport a 100 gallon tank/stand with a dolly?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I had to put a guesstimate weight on it ~ its about 175 ~200 lbs. Which isn't a ton but its awkward since you have to wrap your arms over and around it and try to bear hug it so you can carry it in.If you are on the ground level it would be easy with the dolly.I could just slide it back off the truck holding 1 side and let it rest on the dolly then stand it up and get rolling but I got stairs and doors, hallway etc to try and manuver it on my own would just be a bad idea.If my hand truck didnt have a flat tire I could do it or you could. Can you get a hand truck?Ya just need some blankets and wrap it up and go. this is really making me want to go outside and get it now.

Okay I just went outside and unstrapped it.Its heavy but maybe not as heavy as I thought.i think I am gonna go for it.I'll find out if its doable. Gotta just find my weight belt.

Okay I did it. this is no b/s either. I grabbed it over the side and held on side pane with one hand and kinda umphed it up with my knee and proceeded to kinda wobble over to the stairs.I had outside cushions from my lawn furniture and rested it gently on 1 of them(the corner) then stood it up. I repositioned myself and threw another cushion right next to the door where I put it down again so I could get the door open because the stupid storm door swung shut on me.I have kind of another step into the house and that almost killed me.I kinda lost balance for a second but recovered and then put it onto the next cushion which was just inside my doorway.then spun it so I could lower it down onto the rug/carpet.Its now sitting in my living room.So its possible.
Now the kicker for me is I have to build a stand about 6.5' above my existing central tanks system and I will need a ladder to clean it or put fish in and out of it but it will be cool in my opinion.so theres no way I can lift it above my head and onto the stand I am gonna build for it.That's gonna take me and another guy at least - maybe 3 guys to be safe to get that sucker 6.5' in the air.So I got it off the truck up the stairs and into the living room by myself with no dolly.just 2 pillows. But you be the judge if you can do it or not. And yes, I think I f'd my back up when I lost balance for that quick second.I'll let you know in the morning if I am cursing myself for doing it.But thank you very much for asking this and posting this thread because it just gave me the incentive to git er done!

I know everyone is gonna think I am full of crap so I got an idea...stay tuned.......

The sign says "It's possible" and 1:53 a.m. check out the Fenestratus's eyes all glowing in the tank behind me.:headbang2
Or maybe its the Christmas lights? what the heck is wrong with me moving fish tanks at 2 am?I think I should go to bed.:ROFL:Thanks again to the original poster for getting me off my fat azz and pushing me to go get the thing off my truck.:screwy:

I could do it cause I'm pretty strong and thats what it comes down to, your strength. If your a fairly strong guy it shouldn't be too much trouble. Just be careful.

Congrats I'll be to scared to do it by myself

when you have your stand you can put the tank yourself

stand the tank up, put one end on the stand, then pick the one on the ground and just guide it on the stand
